MINERAL PROCESSING PROFESSIONALS CONTINUE TO ADVANCE THEIR EXPERTISE...
As part of its efforts to strengthen human resource capacity in Mongolia’s mining and mineral resources sector and bring the knowledge and skills of engineers and technical professionals to international standards, the **Mongolian Mineral Processing Association (MMPA)** is organizing a **Professional Engineer Certification Training Program**.
Established in **1998**, MMPA is one of Mongolia’s pioneering professional associations in the mining sector. The training program is designed not only to develop professional competencies, but also to prepare specialists who uphold engineering ethics and are capable of working in accordance with international quality standards and professional practices. It forms part of the Association’s broader efforts to promote the development of mineral processing science and technology, enhance the professional capabilities of its members, and expand international cooperation.
For this training program, MMPA adopts the following definition of an internationally qualified professional engineer. Such a professional should:
* Possess **in-depth knowledge** in their field of specialization and be capable of effectively integrating theory with practical application;
* Work in accordance with **international standards, codes, and regulations**, with skills competitive in the global market;
* Uphold **professional ethics and responsibility**, while recognizing their obligations to the environment and society;
* Introduce **new technologies and innovations** and make a tangible contribution to the development of the industry.
The current training program is attended by **engineers, technologists, researchers, managers, and engineers seeking professional consulting certification** from major mining companies, including **Erdenet Mining Corporation SOE, Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi JSC, and Energy Resources LLC**.
Participants are receiving comprehensive knowledge in key areas such as **modern mineral processing technologies, production optimization, environmental management, and occupational health and safety**. This represents an important step toward making a tangible contribution to the sustainable development of Mongolia’s mining sector and developing a highly skilled workforce capable of competing at the international level.
MMPA President **B. Chinzorig** emphasized that expanding the sector’s human resource base with professionals equipped with globally competitive knowledge and experience will provide an important impetus for establishing cooperation with representatives of universities and companies from **Australia, the United States, Germany, South Korea, and China**, who will participate in the **“Mineral Processing 2026” International Conference** to be held in **Erdenet this autumn**.
Furthermore, the Association continues to maintain ongoing cooperation with **mining academies, research centers, universities, and engineering companies in Japan, the Czech Republic, Russia, China, and Germany**, making a valuable contribution to the advancement of science and technology in Mongolia’s mining and mineral processing sector.
