“Industrial Site Visit” Successfully Concludes in the South Gobi Region
As part of the **2026 Activity Plan of the Mongolian Mineral Processing Association (MMPA)**, the “Industrial Site Visit” program was successfully completed in the **South Gobi region**. The initiative was organized to enhance the practical skills of engineers and technical professionals, as well as students and young professionals, while providing opportunities for knowledge and experience sharing.
During the first stage of the visit, participants toured the **Ukhaa Khudag Complex of Energy Resources LLC**, gaining comprehensive insight into the entire operation—from **open-pit mining and ore extraction to the processing plant’s technological flowsheets**, as well as the **water treatment system** that ensures continuous production and the operations of the **Ilch Gerel Thermal Power Plant**.
The group then visited the newly commissioned **mineral processing plant of Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi JSC**, where participants learned about advances in mining logistics, including the **12.6-kilometre-long conveyor belt system**, as well as the **centralized control room** used to monitor the technological processes from a single location. They also gained practical insights into the company’s modern employee camp and the operations of its loading and transportation facilities.
During the final stage of the visit, participants toured the **Oyu Tolgoi LLC mineral processing plant**, gaining an in-depth understanding of the complete processing chain—from **ore crushing through to concentrate production**. The visit included the central control room overseeing the entire process, the **filtration, drying, and packaging facilities** where products are prepared for export, the **laboratory responsible for rigorous quality control**, and the professional working environment of the engineers and technical staff.
The industrial visit was conducted in **strict accordance with approved guidelines and occupational safety procedures**. It successfully strengthened professional connections among industry specialists, provided an opportunity to validate theoretical knowledge through practical experience, and fully achieved the objectives set out in the Association’s annual activity plan.
